Bio
Corey Phelps is Associate Professor of Strategy and Desautels Faculty Fellow at the Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University. He also serves as the Associate Dean of Executive Education for the Faculty. In this role, Professor Phelps oversees three executive masters programs (the McGill-HEC EMBA, IMPM and IMHL) and the McGill Executive Institute, which is responsible for public and customized executive programs. He is also a member of the Faculty executive and academic committees.
Prior to arriving at McGill, he was a faculty member at HEC Paris (2009-2014) and the Foster School of Business, University of Washington (2001-2009). He completed his Ph.D. at the Stern School of Business, New York University. At McGill, Corey teaches in the MBA, EMBA, PhD and executive education programs. At HEC Paris, he taught in similar programs and directed the HEC-Atos GOLD Talent Development Program, which received the EFMD Excellence in Practice Award for best custom talent development program.
His extensive executive teaching and program development experience includes programs in Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. Corey received the 2012 Pierre Vernimmen BNP Paribas Award for the best teaching at HEC. At UW he received undergraduate and MBA professor of the year awards and was a finalist for the University’s Distinguished Teaching Award.
Corey’s book – Cracked It! How to solve big problems and sell solutions like top strategy consultants – co-authored with Olivier Sibony and Bernard Garrette,was published in summer 2018 by Palgrave Macmillan.
