Cliff is the founder and executive director of Vote Compass as well as a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto, where he specializes in election analysis and public opinion research. He holds an honours BA in economics and political science from McMaster University and an MA in journalism from Western University. He has worked as an application developer, reporter for the Financial Post, chair of the G8 Research Group at the Munk School of Global Affairs, and editor-in-chief of the Journal of International Law and International Relations. He has been a visiting scholar at the Free University Amsterdam, the European University Institute, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Cliff is a past winner of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Doctoral Fellowship, the Adel S. Sedra Distinguished Graduate Award, the Action Canada fellowship, the Beattie Fellowship at the Trudeau Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, and the Clarkson Laureateship for Public Service. He is a contributor to The Globe and Mail and Policy Options Magazine.
