Amin Ghafelehbashi

Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo, 2015

Amin is a fourth-year Systems Design Engineering student at the University of Waterloo. During the last 5 years, he has worked at 5 different companies in 5 different cities. During his last internship, he worked as an API Technical Writer at Google in NYC, USA. During his internship at Google, he received a Peer Bonus for going above and beyond expectations. Upon a successful internship, Amin received a full-time employment offer from Google; however, his entrepreneurial mindset couldn't settle down with such an offer and that's why he’s here pursuing his dreams with the Next 36. During the last 3 years, Amin has founded/co-founded 4 different startups: Microbat Sonar System (aimed to supersede traditional mobility tools for the visually impaired with sonar-based products), CoopStorage (providing storage solutions for co-op students), Embla (aimed to allow Parkinson's patients to stay in touch with their touch screen devices), and Tongo (designing tongue-operated control systems for quadriplegics). When Amin is not studying, working, or training with UW Varsity Cross Country team, you can find him coaching Kitchener Soccer Club U11 girls soccer team or playing tennis/soccer with his friends.
