Nima Shahbazi is a PhD Candidate in the Data Mining and Database Group at York University. He previously worked in big data analytics, specifically on Forex and Stock Market. His current research interests include Predictive Modeling, Big Data Analytics and Deep Learning. For the last two years, he has participated in more than 12 Worldwide data mining competitions which were hosted on Kaggle (with $30K to $100K prize money each) and has finished in the top 10 in five of the competitions (won 2 of them) and around top 1% of the rest. Most of the competitions have more than 2000 teams participating from all over the world and problems tackled in these competitions are quite broad, including predictive modeling, classification, NLP, image segmentation with deep learning and recommendation systems.
